William…I just read your Off Diamond Head article. It brought back the dark eight or nine weeks I spent at Kaimuki Intermediate during the Spring of 1965, before I transferred to St Louis High School, thence Kalani in 1967. I still remember the Moke that taunted me with a carving tool in woodshop during 8th grade. We moved from Hunakai street across from The Kahala Mall to Kukamanu Place in April of 1966. I surfed almost exclusively at Pattersons and Mahoney’s. Enjoyed your article and look forward to reading your new book on surfing next month.
